Have you ever made a wish on a shooting star? Or whilst blowing out the candles on your birthday cake?
What if every time you made a wish, your wish came true. You would probably think that would be really kool ay? That’s what I thought.
Yes, to start off it was pretty fun. Anything I wanted was just a wish away. Until, one day, I made a wish that changed my life forever. This is my story.
It all started on my 9th Birthday. Mum and Dad threw me a massive party. All of my friends were there.
My best friend bought me a jewellery box. However, this was no ordinary box. The box came with one wish. I didn’t know what to wish for, so, I made a wish that, every time I made a wish, the wish would come true. That wish was to change my life forever.
One day I got a call from Maddie asking me if I wanted to go to a big party that a girl at school was having. When I asked my parents they said, flat out, no. I was not allowed to go to parties on a school night. This made me very angry. I stormed upstairs to my bedroom muttering away under my breath.
It was then that it happened. In moment of anger I sat in my room and shouted “ I wish you weren’t
my parents, I wish I had kool parents that let me do what I wanted all the time, without rules”.
I stayed in my room all night and finally fell asleep.
When I woke up the next morning, I was still slightly angry with Mum and Dad. I got dressed in my school uniform. Even though I hated school I knew I had to go. I went downstairs into the kitchen to get some breakfast before school.
Sat at the breakfast table was a tall skinny woman. She had short blonde hair, she was dressed in a red nightdress that only just covered her up. Also at the table was a tall strong looking man, he had black hair. He was wearing black shorts and some Niki trainers with Niki trainer socks. When I asked who they were, they replied “Your Mum and Dad silly, you must have not slept last night, go back to bed.”
“What about school” I replied. “School, you hate school.” “Why should you care about school.” I thought about it and decided that I would still go to school as my Mum and Dad wouldn’t like it if I didn’t go.
I went upstairs to grab my bag. On the way, I thought “I wish I knew what’s going on this morning.” When I reached my room and as I was standing in the doorway, a tiny little woman was sat on the bed. Before I had a chance to speak, the woman said “Are you the one who has been making the wishes?” I nodded.
The strange woman on the bed said “I am your wish consultant. Last night you wished you had different parents, so I gave you different parents.” She went on, “You wished someone would tell you what was going on, here I am”. By this time I was confused and i’d certainly changed my mind. “I wish I hadn’t made any of those wishes, I wish I could turn back the clock and have my normal parents back so I can tell them I’m sorry”.
The woman looked at me , “But I thought you wanted to do what you want all the time.” “No” I replied. “I was angry , I said it in the heat of the moment. I want my Mum and Dad to send me to school
and give me lectures on eating healthily.”
All of a sudden I was back to the moment that I had made the wish. This time I didn’t wish for my parents to change though, I wished for everything to stay the same.
I had been given a second chance and I didn’t waste it.
